Why GrammarGem needs Accessibility access, and how to grant it.

To read the text you select and write a correction back into any app, macOS requires that GrammarGem be trusted for Accessibility. This is the same permission used by text-expansion and automation tools.

Grant Accessibility

  1. 1Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  2. 2Enable GrammarGem in the list (the onboarding screen has a button that takes you straight there).
  3. 3GrammarGem detects the change automatically — no restart needed.

Why does it need this?

Accessibility lets GrammarGem read your current selection and replace it in place. Your text is processed locally and is never sent anywhere.

If you skip it

GrammarGem still works — it falls back to a manual paste-in window where you can drop text, fix it, and copy the result. Granting Accessibility simply makes everything happen in place, with one keystroke.
