Ask & Rewrite

Give a plain-language command and rewrite text in place.

“Ask” lets you give GrammarGem an instruction in your own words and apply it to the selected text. It runs on the local model, so your writing stays on your Mac.

Things you can ask

  • “Make it shorter.”
  • “Make it more formal.”
  • “Translate to German.”
  • “Turn this into three bullet points.”
  • “Soften the tone.”

Select text, open the Ask popover, type your instruction, and press Run. The result replaces your selection in place.

Free tier

On the free plan, AI actions (rewrite, tone, Ask, and translate combined) are limited to 10 per day and reset at local midnight. A lifetime license removes the limit.
