Privacy Policy

Last updated June 16, 2026

GrammarGem is built privacy-first. This policy explains the little data FounderGem LLC handles, and the much larger amount it deliberately never sees.

Plain-language summary

GrammarGem runs on your Mac. We don’t receive, store, or process the text you write. The only data we touch is what’s needed to sell you a license and keep the app updated.

What we never collect

Your writing. Grammar checks and AI rewrites run entirely on your device. The text you select, type, or correct is never transmitted to us, never stored on our systems, and never used to train any model. There is no telemetry in the app by default.

What we do collect

  • Purchase information — handled by our payment processor (Polar or Lemon Squeezy). We receive your email and order details to deliver your license and provide support; we do not see or store your full card number.
  • License activation data — a license key and a one-way hashed device identifier, used to enforce your plan’s device limit. The hash cannot be reversed to identify your hardware.
  • Support correspondence — if you email us, we keep that conversation to help you.

Network connections the app makes

  1. 1A one-time download of the AI model from Hugging Face on first run.
  2. 2License activation and periodic validation with our payment processor.
  3. 3Update checks via GitHub Releases.

None of these requests ever contain the text you write.

Third parties

We rely on Polar/Lemon Squeezy (payments + licensing), Hugging Face (model hosting), and GitHub (update hosting). Each processes only the limited data described above under its own terms.

Your choices

You can deactivate a device at any time from the app or the license portal, and request deletion of the purchase and support data we hold by contacting us.
